Christmas in Florahome, Florida

Christmas may not be as white here in Florahome, Florida as it is up north - a winter wonderland in North Florida basically means wondering if we'll be wearing sweaters or just sweating when we celebrate with family and friends. We all know however, it's the family and friends part that really makes Christmas special - like that hole Uncle Bob accidentally shot through the roof back in 03 or the year Grandma almost burned down the house when she got to playing that 'Guitar Hero thing' and forgot about her cooking. Christmas in Florahome, may not as bright as in Orlando or Jacksonville, but the lights on our homes or gates are born of the same Christmas Spirit. If you drive down Coral Farms Road at night this time of year or maybe have seen one of the Living Hope Worship Center's past Christmas performances, you'll know the reason for the season is not forgotten here. Really, Christmas in Florahome, Florida is like Christmas anywhere else,... it's not the place we celebrate that's important - it's the place Christmas has in our heart.

Thanksgiving in Florahome, Florida

While celebrating Thanksgiving this year, a special thank you goes out to all those in and around the Florahome area that help make the lives of those living here far better. Even recently with the Living Hope Worship Center 's Harvest Hoedown or the upcoming Thanksgiving for Seniors at Oak Avenue Baptist Church, its clear how greatly they, along with the other churches in this community remind us daily of our own blessings and our need to share those blessings with others. Thank you to those that volunteer their time and skills to keep us and our homes safe all year and more thanks still to those insane individuals who help make another Florahome house a Halloween horror each year. Thanks to those that put up signs reminding us a cleaner Florahome is a healthier and more attractive place to live and show we have a respect for ourselves, for each other and for the environment. Thanks go out as well for all the countless small acts of kindness and courtesies shown each day by family, friends and neighbors that go unappreciated. For the equally unappreciated time energy and sacrifice made by business owners, their employees and all those who make their living in Florahome, we should remember to say a very big THANK-YOU! Just a note of thanks to all those at The Living Hope Worship Center who have given their time, talents and labor to make the Harvest Hoedown a fun day for everyone and for the blessings you bring to this community every day. And thanks also to those at the Florahome - Grandin VFD for for their insanity and for the hours you've put in not just at Halloween, but all year long. Please keep in mind though, the Haunted House was just a prelude to the REAL horror show. That will begin tomorrow, November 2nd 2010.    Now THAT is scary,...
