Florida Hurricanes - Prepare to be Blown Away!

Maybe a better title for this post would be - If you're NOT prepared for Florida Hurricanes - Prepare to be Blown Away! Take for example the above photo capturing one Florahome family right after Hurricane Frances blew out the lights back in 2004. Ill prepared, you can almost hear them cursing the darkness searching for that re-gifted vanilla scented candle Aunt Fanny gave them for Christmas the previous year. Every place on the planet seems to have their own special natural disaster and though drought and wildfires are all the rage in Florida right now, traditionally hurricanes have been our thing. Described much like one recent tornado victim's view of natures fury - as the most evil thing she'd ever seen, hurricanes as well convey the feel of something dark and alive - like the skies in those Harry Potter movies when Voldemort is summoned. Though it's been a while since we've been blown away by the likes of Frances or her tempestuous sister Jeanne visiting us later that same year, the "experts" say to plan for this hurricane season to be particularly active and for those of us who've watched a few trees come crashing down or roofs blown away by Florida hurricanes of the past,... well as Hagrid would say - "There's a storm coming, Harry. And we all best be ready when she does."

Are you ready?
