Of course we're a little short on snow in these parts but we do have enough water for some pretty impressive boat parades - one just over in Palatka only a short drive from Florahome. No matter our differences though, when it comes to Christmas we all wish we were kids again like little Ralphie dreaming of his Red Rider BB gun. 'A Christmas Story' brings back that magical time with all the trimmings at the Athens Theatre in Deland December 6 - 15 so don't miss it. There are things to do in Florida and things to do in our own neighborhood this this coming December weekend 2010. Beyond the Christmas Parade in Keystone Heights or the holiday events happening in Melrose, be sure you also check out Florahome USA's Bulletin Board and don't miss 'For Unto Ya'll' at the Living Hope Family Worship Center or First Baptist's Walk Through Bethlehem also in Keystone Heights. One of the things to do in Florida this December 2010 is to watch out for the Grinch. Since the days of Charles Dicken's crotchety old skinflint, Ebenezer Scrooge and even before, there have always been those individuals who think 'every idiot who goes about with Merry Christmas on his lips should be boiled with his own pudding. Dealing with the Scrooges and Grinches who would steal our Christmas Spirit is just a part of the holiday package, but the best way yet to deal with them is to put them up on the stage and find out just what makes them so mean. At the Hippodrome in Gainesville, the Garden Theatre in Winter Garden as well as other theatres and school plays all over Florida, you can do just that. And as for the Grinch,... well he's now living in Orlando. Here's your list of other things to do in Florida this Dec 3, 4, and 5 2010 so go out and spread some holiday cheer!
